With the soaring costs of energy, it's critical for each of us to take action to conserve energy. This will help reduce your monthly expenses and more importantly, help the environment. Here are a few tips from Derrick Pedranti on how to save energy:
- Turn off lights and appliances that you are not using. In the rooms you are not using, just turn of the lights, televisions and other appliances. It's common sense that can save you hundreds of dollars every year.
- Where appropriate switch to LED or fluorescent light bulbs. Though they cost a bit more, LED bulbs last much, much longer and consume very little energy. Fluorescent bulbs also consume small amounts of energy as compared to traditional bulbs and nowadays they can cast a nice light. Look for rebates on these bulbs too.
- Hang dry some of your clothes. This can save energy and even help prevent your shirts from from shrinking too small. This tip is from personal experience.
- Call your energy provider and ask for an "energy audit". If you qualify, they will have an energy auditor examine your house and recommend methods for reducing your energy consumption.
